In this process, the 3d printer uses powdered metals, and a strong laser sinters the metal particles to produce a physical object.   After stacking the current metal powdered layer, the powder bed is moved out, and a new layer of metal powder is spread using rolling pins or spreaders over the previous one that has been fused into a bottom layer which acts as a base for the second layer.
